This past July, Atomic Skis’ Infamous Squad gathered at Mt. Hood for a week of photo and video shooting, and I was invited to contribute my behind-the-lens skills for the occasion.

The crew was stacked: skier-philosopher and style guru Nicky Keefer; Level 1 Productions Superunknown contest winner Mitchell Brower; Swedish wunderkind Lucas Stål-Madison; Nick Meilleur and SoulRyders’ Jacob Callaghan on video; me and Darcy Bacha on photo; and Atomic freeski team manager Dominic “Gentile” Tritscher, visiting from Austria. Atomic pro Tim Durtschi also stopped by to join in on the fun.

Our week started off badly, with three consecutive days of bad weather that brought the lifts at Timberline to a halt. On the third straight day of socked-in conditions, we decided to head up and hike a rail in the Timberline public park. Lucas, Nicky and Mitchell left no doubts as to their collective skills, and as to the madness that would ensue as soon as the weather cleared.

Finally the clouds broke, leaving us with two days of bluebird to get work done in the park at Windell’s Camp. I snagged Mitchell and Lucas to shoot rails and handplants, while Nicky and Darcy bagged shots on Windell’s big jump.

It was truly an honor to work with such a talented crew, and I can’t wait to see some of my photos appearing in Atomic literature this winter.
